"The Red Light Theater presents: Stanley Kubrick's noir classic 'The Killing.' Made at the height of the communist red scare when conservatives were more afraid of communists than they are of drag queens today.

 

Stanley Kubrick filled this film with known communist and supposed communist sympathizers from banned American author Jim Thompson as screenwriter to much of the cast. In addition, this film got Quentin Tarantino the idea of timing and narrative structure for 'Pulp Fiction.' "

We have switched to 7 pm as requested by community members who cherish their precious daylight! Community Meetings are our weekly open forum to all members of the Bombay Beach community to hear updates from the Biennale Org Team, share community member insights, and discuss the evolving Social Sculpture that is the Bombay Beach Biennale.

As always, our weekly Community Meetings are potlucks. Please bring something to share - beverages, snacks, food, etc.

 

The potluck begins at 6:30 pm, so arrive early if you have something to contribute and/or want to start snacking ahead of the meeting. 

~Note our Zoom-a-loomers: the meetings tend to actually start around 7:15 pm, so feel free to log on at 7 pm and anticipate a 15 minute delay as we gather the humans into No Shoes.

"Join the Salton Sea Management Program Team (SSMP) for a virtual community meeting on the Draft Salton Sea Long-Range Plan. At the meeting, the SSMP Team will provide an overview of the draft plan, answer questions, and receive community input as part of the 45-day public comment period that ends on March 17th, 2023. We will also discuss next steps as the long-range plan becomes part of a feasibility study led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

RED LIGHT THEATER opening night at the Temple to the Scientific Method in honor of the windstorm I will open with "Prospero's Books,Peter Greenaway's adaptation of "the Tempest."

 

Peter Greenaway, is a Welsh film director, screenwriter and artist. His films are noted for the distinct influence of Renaissance and Baroque painting, and Flemish painting in particular. Common traits in his films are the scenic composition and illumination and the contrasts of costume and nudity, nature and architecture, furniture and people, sexual pleasure and painful death.
