ANGELS

“ANGELS” is an ongoing interdisciplinary work by actor and artist Lío Mehiel that “celebrates TGNC (trans & gender nonconforming) people’s resilience and ability to create beauty even in the most inhospitable of landscapes.”

 

For the 2023 Biennale, Mehiel installed a sculpture made from their own body in the Salton Sea and captured a corresponding photo series with Wynne Neilley. 

Mehiel has been developing the “ANGELS” sculpture series over the past year with the goal of creating the first ever large-scale collection of TGNC busts in the style of Ancient Greek statues.
