The Philosophy Conference
Each year, philosophers, architects, neuroscientists, artists, and critical thinkers present academic lectures in abandoned buildings across town. This year saw the debut of the "Midnight Philosophy" series, which introduced a more abstract and poetic imagining of what an "academic lecture" can be.
The BBBBistro
The BBBBistro is a community-led kitchen built and staffed by guest and volunteer chefs to feed both the resident and guest BB community. Sourcing most of their ingredients from the local indigenous-owned Temalpakh Farm, the BBBBistro is a big step towards creating more local and sustainable food systems and security for Bombay Beach.
BB Lit Week
The Bombay Beach Lit Fest is a no-tickets/no-sponsors/all-free festival featuring activism, environmental day, writing the art of sex, centering characters of color, and many, many unconventional conversations, music, and films.
The Sub Club
Part community-intervention, part art-project, the Sub Club directed all night-time music to a partially underground space dug out by BB artists an builders on the beach to create a sound-insulated space for late-night tunes.
BBIFF
2023 was the simultaneous launch and centennial celebration of the 100th Bombay Beach International Film Festival. Featuring three feature films and over 20 shorts, many of which were shot in Bombay Beach, the BBIFF is an exciting expansion into the discipline of film.
